South Boston Castle Island and the Pleasure Bay Walk
Castle Island and Pleasure Bay anchor the longest urban harbor walk in Boston. South Boston's neighborhood pace fills the rest of the day.

South Boston's harbor edge runs from Carson Beach east past Pleasure Bay to Castle Island, the longest continuous urban harbor walk in the city. The neighborhood inland keeps its own particular pace, especially east of Broadway. A cannabis-aware day here moves slowly along the water and stays out of the public consumption zone entirely.
The Castle Island Morning
Fort Independence at Castle Island is the easternmost public point in South Boston, with the Pleasure Bay loop and the Sugar Bowl breakwater extending the walk into the harbor itself. Massachusetts state law prohibits cannabis consumption in public spaces, and Castle Island is a state-managed property, so any cannabis stays at a private space well before the walk. Sullivan's Castle Island, the cash-only food stand, is the legitimate Castle Island institution and the right lunch stop.
Day Boulevard and the Carson Beach Stretch
The walk west from Castle Island along Day Boulevard runs past Pleasure Bay, Carson Beach, and the long stretch of South Boston harborfront that has been getting reclaimed and redesigned over the last decade. The cluster of South Boston restaurants and bars off Broadway sits a short walk inland for a late-afternoon stop. Adults 21+ planning a dispensary visit should verify licensed status via the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission at masscannabiscontrol.com first.
The Evening, Back Inland
South Boston's neighborhood spine inland from the harbor has a different feel from the waterfront, more of a bar-and-restaurant evening shape. Cannabis fits at the edges of this evening too, never at the venues themselves. A private rental nearby, a low-dose edible an hour before dinner, the walk over.
