Dispensaries in Chelsea, MA: Chelsea Bud and the Other Licensed Shops Across the Mystic

Five adult-use stores sit on the state map in Chelsea, a city of about two square miles a Silver Line ride from South Station. Where each one is, which to call first, and the rules after checkout.

Dispensaries in Chelsea, MA are packed into a city of about two square miles across the Mystic River from Charlestown. As of 2026 the Cannabis Control Commission's Where to Buy map lists five adult-use stores in Chelsea, including Chelsea Bud on Broadway, the one that searches for "Chelsea Bud" and "Chelsea weed" are usually looking for. For adults 21+, here is where each sits, how to get there without a car, and the rules that apply once the purchase is made.

The licensed shops in Chelsea

  • Chelsea Bud, 267 Broadway. The CCC lists the license under House of Ermias, with chelseabud.com as the store's site. The store says it is open seven days a week, takes walk-ins and runs a points-based rewards program.
  • Harbor House Collective, 80 Eastern Avenue. Its site lists hours of 9 AM to 9 PM Sunday through Wednesday and 9 AM to 11 PM Thursday through Saturday, and it sorts its flower into tide-named tiers, the nautical theme the name promises.
  • RISE Chelsea, 200 Beacham Street.
  • Trinity Naturals, on Second Street. Its site lists hours of 8 AM to 10 PM Sunday through Wednesday and 8 AM to 11 PM Thursday through Saturday, and describes the store as independently owned and LGBTQ+, women and minority-owned. The CCC map and the store's own site give slightly different street numbers, so search the name rather than the number.
  • Western Front, 121 Webster Avenue. It opened in November 2020 as Chelsea's first adult-use store, founded as an economic empowerment business by Dennis Benzan and Marvin Gilmore. The CCC map still lists it, but the company's own site now shows only its two Cambridge stores, so call before making the trip.

Hours change, so check each store's site the day of the visit. The dispensary directory carries current listings for Chelsea and the cities around it.

Getting to Chelsea without a car

Chelsea is one of the easier cities north of Boston to reach by transit:

  • Silver Line SL3. Since April 21, 2018, the SL3 has run from South Station through the Seaport and past Logan Airport into Chelsea, with four Chelsea stops: Eastern Avenue, Box District, Bellingham Square and Chelsea station.
  • Commuter rail. Chelsea station, at the Mystic Mall on Everett Avenue, is also a stop on the Newburyport/Rockport line out of North Station.
  • By car. Route 1 crosses the Mystic on the Tobin Bridge straight into Chelsea from Charlestown.

Chelsea, briefly

Chelsea is the smallest city in Massachusetts by land area, a dense grid on the north side of the Mystic, with Broadway as its main commercial street. Five licensed storefronts in a city that size is a lot, and with the SL3 linking it to the Seaport, the airport and South Station, Chelsea's shops sit closer to downtown Boston, by transit, than many shops inside the city line.

Bellingham Square, one of the four SL3 stops, is the easy place to step off for Broadway.

What to bring and what it costs

  • ID. Adults 21+ only. A valid government-issued photo ID with a future expiration date, such as a driver's license from any state, a state ID or a passport.
  • Limits. As of 2026, under H.5350, a retailer can sell an adult up to 2 ounces of flower, or its equivalent of 10 grams of concentrate or 1,000 mg of edibles, per transaction.
  • Taxes. Massachusetts adds a 10.75% excise tax and the 6.25% sales tax, and host communities can add up to 3%.
  • Payment. Policies differ by store. Cash and debit are the common options.
  • Edibles. Start low, go slow. A low-milligram first serving and a long wait before any second one.

The rule, plainly

The Cannabis Control Commission, at masscannabiscontrol.com, sets the state rules, and the important ones are short:

  • Massachusetts state law prohibits cannabis consumption in public spaces. The CCC spells it out: no smoking, vaping or eating cannabis in public places or on federal land.
  • An open container of cannabis in a car's passenger area is illegal. Purchases go in a closed container in the trunk or a locked glove compartment.
  • Driving under the influence of cannabis is illegal.
  • Crossing a state line with cannabis is illegal, as is carrying it on a plane, train or boat leaving Massachusetts.

What it means for your trip

Chelsea's parks and waterfront paths, the sidewalks of Broadway and the SL3 platforms are all public space. So are the Harborwalk and the beaches across the bridge. Logan is a short ride away, and nothing purchased in Chelsea can go through airport security. Most hotels by the airport ban smoking in rooms, so check the policy before booking, and the realistic setting for adults 21+ is a private residence where the owner or lease allows it.

The short version

Chelsea, MA has five adult-use dispensaries on the CCC map as of 2026: Chelsea Bud at 267 Broadway, Harbor House Collective on Eastern Avenue, RISE on Beacham Street, Trinity Naturals on Second Street and Western Front on Webster Avenue, the last of which should be confirmed by phone. The SL3 reaches the city from South Station. Bring ID, stay within 2 ounces, and keep it out of public space and the passenger seat.
