Roslindale
Roslindale Square’s small-town walkable downtown, Arnold Arboretum adjacency, and a quieter family-neighborhood pace.
Roslindale sits south of Jamaica Plain, anchored by Roslindale Square — one of the most walkable small-town downtowns inside Boston city limits. The square holds an independent cinema (the Greater Boston Stage Company's projects play here), the Roslindale Village Main Street project that's incubated a wave of small restaurants, and the Saturday farmers market that runs spring through fall. The Arnold Arboretum's southern entrance is a short walk north into JP. The neighborhood is more residential and slower than JP or the South End, with a family-block character that suits longer-stay visitors over hotel weekends. For visiting adults 21+, Roslindale's cannabis-retail presence has been emerging rather than dense, with the closer access via JP and Roslindale Square's commercial corridor. The day shape works as a square morning at the cafes, an arboretum walk in the afternoon, and a quiet evening at one of the neighborhood restaurants.
